Some fireworks whisper. Crackling Candles announce themselves. These classic roman candles fire a series of sparkling trails skyward, each one building to a sharp, explosive report that rattles windows and gets the whole block paying attention. They’re loud, bright, and unapologetically old-school — the kind of firework that reminds you why you fell in love with the Fourth of July in the first place.
Crackling Candles are the workhorses of any backyard show: cheap enough to buy by the armful, loud enough to anchor the middle of your lineup, and simple enough that anyone can light and enjoy them. Grab a couple of packs and stagger them through your show for punctuation between the big cakes, or hand them out and let everyone take turns. They pair perfectly with fountains for a ground-and-sky combo that keeps the energy up without a lull.
Like all roman candles, these should be secured upright before lighting — never hold them in your hand. Set them in a bucket of sand or dirt, light the fuse, and step back. At this price, there’s no reason not to stock up.
